Attorney James “Ted” Schatt serves a diverse clientele ranging in size from single individuals to business entities that employ over 1,000 workers.

Schatt Law assists business and commercial clients with a wide range of matters, including:

  • Limited representation with equine law

Mr. Schatt is licensed to practice law in Florida state courts; the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida; the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals; and the Supreme Court of the United States.

More Than 20 Years Of Experience

Upon graduation from law school, from 2000 to 2002, Mr. Schatt served as an associate for Mateer & Harbert, P.A., in Orlando. In 2002, Mr. Schatt and his wife, Betsy, relocated to Ocala, and a year later, Mr. Schatt established an Ocala office for the firm. In 2005, Mr. Schatt accepted an offer to join Mateer & Harbert, P.A., as a full partner. After six years of leading the Ocala office, he resigned from Mateer & Harbert, P.A., and established The Schatt Law Firm (Schatt Law), on March 1, 2009. The Schatt Law Firm provides the skills and experience needed to solve the legal issues of a diverse client base. Mr. Schatt’s clients include developers, contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, health care providers and other business entities in need of counsel.

Mr. Schatt served on the Florida Bar Civil Rules Committee from 2003 to 2006, as City Attorney for the City of Dunnellon from 2006 to 2008 and on the 5th Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Committee from 2014-2019.

Mr. Schatt was recognized by Florida Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2010 through 2014. He was also recognized in 2011 by Ocala Magazine’s 40 under 40 which identifies 40 individuals under the age of 40 that are poised to shape Ocala’s future. Mr. Schatt served on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Marion County. He is also past President of the Marion County Literacy Council (2008), the D.R. Smith American Inn of Court (2009-2010), The Downtown Business Alliance (2014-2016) and Ocala Main Street (2021).
